Is the procedure painful?

Not during surgery — the area is fully anaesthetised. Mild tightness in the first 24–48 hours is normal and easily managed.

Usually not — it is generally an aesthetic procedure. Where symptoms are clearly functional, we assess coverage case by case.

Can I still breastfeed?

After a pure reduction, usually yes, as the milk ducts are preserved. For inverted nipples it depends on the technique — we choose a duct-preserving approach where possible.

As with any procedure: bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing or altered sensation. Serious complications are rare in this outpatient setting and are discussed beforehand.

How long will I be off work?

Usually no time off for desk work; for physically demanding work we recommend 3–5 days.

Will there be a visible scar?

The suture sits on the natural pigment border between nipple and areola and is barely visible once healed.

Will sensation change?

With correct technique it is usually preserved. Temporarily reduced sensation during the first weeks is normal.

Is there an age limit?

How long does healing take?

Superficial wound healing is complete after 10–14 days. Swelling and tenderness settle over 4–6 weeks; the final scar appearance shows after 6–12 months.

How painful is it?

When can I exercise again?

Walking from day 2, running and strength training from week 3, swimming and sauna after 4–6 weeks at the earliest.
